The Embassy is headed by the Ambassador who is a representative of the President of the Republic of Malawi. Together with other diplomatic members of staff, the Ambassador conducts official business of the Government of the Republic of Malawi in Kuwait and other countries of concurent accreditation.

Duties & Services

 

  • To facilitate and coordinate economic activities relating to trade, investment and tourism.
  • To facilitate the mobilization of aid and technical assistance.
  • To issue visas or other travel documents to Malawian nationals as well as to foreign nationals wishing to visit or reside in Malawi.
  • To assist Malawian nationals on matters affecting their social well-being. Make regular visits to communities where nationals reside to listen to their concerns and address these needs where possible.
  • To assist nationals who have been arrested or incarcerated and make notifications as required.
  • To notarize/authenticate legal documents for Malawian nationals and companies doing business in Malawi.

 

His Excellency Ambassador Younos Abdul Karim Presents His Credentials to the Crown Prince and Deputy Amir of Kuwait 

His Excellency Mr. Younos Abdul Karim, on 18th May 18, 2022, presented his Letters of Credence to His Highness Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al-Sabah, the Crown Prince and Deputy Amir of the State of Kuwait, accrediting him as Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of the Republic of Malawi to the Kuwait.

Speaking during the presentation, Ambassador Karim conveyed fraternal greetings and best wishes from His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera, President of the Republic of Malawi for His Highness the Amir of Kuwait, Sheikh Nawaf Al-Ahmad Al-Jaber-Ala-Sabah and His Highness the Deputy Amir Sheikh Mishal Al-Ahmad Al Jaber Al-Sabah’s good health as well as peace and prosperity for the people of the State of Kuwait.

He expressed Malawi Government’s appreciation to the State of Kuwait for its continued support towards Malawi’s infrastructural development through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, Arab Bank for Economic Development in Africa (BADEA) and OFID.

He expressed the hope that Kuwait will continue to support Malawi’s  development aspirations as espoused in the Malawi Vision 2063 through the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development and other organizations.

His Excellency the Ambassador gave his assurance that his tour of duty would lead to further growth and consolidation of the relations already happily existing between the two countries.

His Highness the Crown Prince and Deputy Amir wished His Excellency the President Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera and the people of Malawi good health and prosperity.

He assured the Ambassador of Kuwait’s continued support to Malawi’s development through Kuwait for Arab Economic Development.

His Highness the Deputy Amir said Malawi is endowed with enormous natural resources including fertile soils suitable for agricultural production and expressed Kuwait’s keenness to invest in Malawi’s agricultural sector.

Before presenting his Credentials to Highness the Crown Prince and Deputy Amir of Kuwait His Excellency Younos Abdul Karim, presented copies of his credentials to Honourable Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah, Minister of Foreign Affairs of the State of Kuwait.

Speaking during the meeting that took place at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs in Kuwait City, Excellency Karim extended Malawi Government’s appreciations to the State of Kuwait for its continued support toward Malawi’s social and economic development.

The Malawi Envoy appreciated the support that Malawi receives from Kuwait charitable organizations including the Kuwait Red Crescent Society, Direct Aid International as well as the Revival of Islamic Heritage Society which he said are improving people’s lives.

On Malawi’s international relations, he pointed out Malawi Government’s active participation in promoting multilateralism, which has resulted in Malawi’s raised global profile due to its boldness on the world stage. He highlighted His Excellency Dr. Lazarus McCarthy Chakwera’s chairmanship of SADC and the Least Developed Countries (LDCs).

The Honourable Sheikh Dr. Ahmed Nasser Al-Mohammed Al-Ahmed Al-Jaber Al-Sabah welcomed His Excellency Karim to Kuwait and assured him of his support.

He said Malawi and Kuwait have a lot in common and appreciated the support that Malawi gives to Kuwait in international forums. He assured him of Kuwait Government’s continued support towards realization of Malawi’s development aspirations.

As Chairman of the Kuwait Fund for Arab Economic Development, the Foreign Minister assured Ambassador Karim of continued support from the Fund towards Malawi’s infrastructural development.

His Excellency Younos Abdul Karim is no stranger to Kuwait after having served as Malawi’s first resident Ambassador to the State of Kuwait from 2011 to 2015. He has replaced H.E. Ambassador Jaffalie Mussa who departed Kuwait in April 2022, at the end of his tour of duty.

Malawi Best Attractions

Malawian are legendary friendliness people, but apart from their friendliness what most capture your eyes in its beautiful geographical diversity, there are number of beautiful scenic places, such as the third largest lake in Africa, the Lake Malawi, which not only have the glimmering mass of clear water but also in its depths filled with colorful cichlid fish. There are number of activities that attract tourist such as diving, kayaking or chilling on its beaches, visit to lake is must for every tourist.

In the south of Malawi are the amazing peaks of Mt Mulanje & mysterious Zomba Plateau, both are best hiker’s attractions, it possesses the beautiful forests & exotic wildlife experience as well.
In the further north there is another worldly beauty of the Nyika Plateau, beautiful grasslands resembling the Scottish Highlands.
